Man Signing Contract

All businesses, big or small, want to have that “big hit” contract. A bumpy start can turn into a good agreement or a discouraging end depending on how you stir up the situation. That is the power of negotiation.
Here are some tips on how you win at negotiation:
1. Never name the first price
I have encountered this many times as a buyer. Naming the price first is like cutting the chance of having a big sale. It might be a big gamble but if the buyer really wants it, he’ll be back.
2. Build a win-win relationship

This is a relationship that the client will not feel cheated. If you want to have a long term relationship with your client, you need to create this kind of relationship. You want them to think that they’ve got a fair deal.

3. Less is more

Sometimes you need to say less to mean more. Saying things unnecessary to the buyer might give them the mentality of your business being a scam or they might get irritated. Focus on the important things and give time to listen to them.

4. Put yourself in their shoes
In order to succeed in business, you need to think as a customer. What they need and what they want. Looking at from their perspective will give you the idea of what will they want to hear.
