The Evil Dead gets a 2013 remake based on a 1981 American horror film of the same Title. It is the fourth installment of the Evil Dead franchise, serving as both a reboot and a loose continuation of the series; the first not directed by Sam Raimi. This film is the directorial debut of  Fede Alvarez. The film revolves around Mia, her brother David and their friends Eric, Olivia and her brother’s girlfriend Natalie when they arrived at a remote cabin on the woods where they plan to help Mia recover from her heroin addiction. While in the cabin, a foul smell leads them to the cellar, where they discover rotting animal corpses, a double-barreled shotgun and a book titled Naturom Demonto, a Sumerian variation of the Book of the Dead. Ignoring warnings scrawled on the book’s pages, Eric reads a passage aloud, summoning a demon. Believing that there is something coming after her, Mia pleads to leave, but the group refuses, believing she’s suffering from withdrawal. Produced by Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert G. Tapert: the writer-director, lead actor, and producer of the original trilogy respectively. Is this film the best horror movie remake to date or can this surpass the original first sequel?
